About Me
My journey has been a winding road with unexpected results. I arrived in Nicosia (Cyprus) a year after the end of the First Gulf War. That year I travelled to Kuwait, Israel and Egypt on journalism assignments and was drawn to explore political conflicts and their personal consequences. I also started painting and two exhibitions at Farmagusta Gate followed, with a long lasting passion for art. Back in London, I continued with journalism and my love affair with art. After a few years fundraising for causes close to my heart like Medical Aid to Palestinians and Sandblast (that helps Saharawi refugees), I felt the need to explain what was happening in my country of origin. People think they know so much about Venezuela, but in reality there is so little real information out there. After completing a film about Venezuela and dealing with a personal loss, I ended up in the Masters in Documentary film I have completed. At the moment I am in the process of devising a collaborative and participatory practice-based research project in the Saharawi refugee camps in Algeria that will bring artistic work in a multilayered of formats with the Saharawi.
I enjoy the challenge of starting projects and bringing together all the skills I have accumulated over the years to realise them. A bit like the little project I run with a friend that combines showing films, creating a local community of like minded people and fundraising for an Agrarian Collective in Venezuela and a school for autistic children, or the collaborative documentary I am producing about the children's library "Almasar" in the Saharawi refugee camps, or the one I did with SeeThroughNews and The Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley.

My WorkI love working in a multidisciplinary manner: if I am filming a documentary I will be producing a photographic reportage and maybe also producing a book.
Likewise, some ideas that sprung up while working as a journalist will inform my artistic practice and also my future filming projects. The sky is the limit....
